As a counselling practicum student, I knew there would be challenges; but I never expected for the hardest part to be waiting for clients to show up. Hello…are you there?? Whether it was for a new client or returning clients, building a case load has been slower than expected, and a bit discouraging – how can I not take it personally? Am I doing something wrong?
And at the same time, life also feels off-balance. Between practicum, school coursework, supervision, along with having a young family, and life/home responsibilities, I am beyond exhausted.
Still, I hold onto the small wins – a great client session, kind supportive words from my supervisor or just remembering why I chose this path. It’s not always easy, but I am learning. If you are here too, hang in there. You are not alone.
