Lately I have been noticing how complicated everything feels.
Not just big life things, but small everyday things too. There is always something to reply to, remember, organize, improve, or figure out. Even things that are supposed to help us relax somehow turn into another thing to keep up with.
At some point, it starts to feel like your brain never fully powers down.
I think a lot of people are more mentally tired than they realize. Not because of one huge thing, but because of the constant pile up of small things. Too many tabs open, both literally and mentally. And when life starts feeling heavy, the instinct is usually to do more. Make a better schedule. Find a new routine. Become more productive somehow. But honestly, whenever I feel overwhelmed, the things that help most are usually much simpler than that.
Drinking water after forgetting all day. Cleaning one corner of my room instead of trying to fix everything at once. Going outside for ten minutes and realizing fresh air actually does help a little. Tiny things, but they shift something.
I think simple things get overlooked because they are not exciting. Nobody wants to hear that getting enough sleep might help more than downloading another productivity app. But the older I get, the more I realize how much peace there is in returning to basics.
Sometimes keeping things simple means making fewer decisions. Rewearing the same outfits. Ordering the same coffee every time. Saying no to plans when your social battery is already hanging on by a thread.
Other times it is emotional. Not analyzing every text. Not trying to solve your whole future before bed. Letting some things stay unfinished for now.
There is so much pressure to constantly improve yourself that even rest starts feeling unproductive. Keeping things simple pushes back against that a little. It reminds you that life does not always need a huge reset. Sometimes you just need a slower morning, a quieter evening, or one less thing on your mind.
Simple does not mean lazy or boring. It just means you are paying attention to what actually helps instead of what looks impressive.
And honestly, life feels a little lighter when you stop trying to carry everything at once.
